I've gotta wonder, though, wether the former was a test run for the latter, or wether they were independently thought up -- what with giant robot anime becoming popular here, it doesn't take a huge stretch to think of the Sentinels. That sounds like a must-read, 'cause I remember that two-parter pretty fondly. Sean McKeever's Sentinel series was good.
