"I think this is where the soft contempt for Superman comes from. You have a man who can do everything, but by not doing everything, he’s essentially done nothing. He hasn’t lived up to his potential at all. Batman’s a human, and he does the best he can. Why shouldn’t Superman?"

I was actually a little blown away by this, and I agree whole-heartedly. This is why I always loved the characterization of Superman as he originally appeared. In the 40's he was a working class hero. He fought anyone whom he felt was a threat to the people. THAT character could have went on to change the world. I always feel a little resentment at the modern interpretation of Superman for not actually living up to that potential.

Anyway, This has been a fantastic read so far. I'm probably going to give DKSA another chance, after years of slandering it at any given opportunity.

It suddenly occurs to me that DKSA has to have been the first thing I ever read by Frank Miller.
