Hoatzin
July 31st, 2007 Posted by david brothersThe Hoatzin (Opisthocomus hoazin), also known as the Hoactzin, Stinkbird, or Canje “Pheasant”, is an unusual species of tropical bird found in swamps, riverine forest and mangrove of the Amazon and the Orinoco delta in South America. It is the only member of the genus Opisthocomus, which means ‘ones with long hair behind’ referring to their large crest.
Hoatzin is also a 22 year old Dutchman who enjoys his comics maybe a little too much. When he’s not busy reading them he’s either reading or writing about them, and occasionally even trying to make them. Among his favorite comic book creators are Grant Morrison, Brian Michael Bendis, Peter Milligan, David Lapham, Garth Ennis, Jack Kirby, Kyle Baker, Carl Barks, Don Rosa, J.H. Williams III, Alex Maleev, Frank Quitely, Lewis Trondheim, Joann Sfar, Moebius, Marjane Satrapi, Osamu Tezuka, Kazuo Koike and Naoki Urasawa. He also has a deranged cat:
